RESTORE PBBC — COMMUNITY DONATION CAMPAIGN
Poquonnock Bridge Baptist Church (est. 1830) has long been a place of worship and a gathering space for our community. From church tag sales to Apple Festivals to Grandma’s Attic/Christmas Bazaars, PBBC has supported Groton for generations.
This year, the January frigid temperatures led to severe water damage to our building, mainly our offices and fellowship areas. These areas remain unusable — and we need your help to restore them.
How You Can Support
- Make a donation using the form on this page and selecting “Capital Fund” as the purpose.
- Share this campaign with friends and neighbors.
Your generosity will help us repair the damage and continue serving the community we love.
Thank you for helping rebuild PBBC. Together, we can restore our church home.
–
The Capital Fund contributes to projects above and beyond routine, budgeted maintenance of PBBC’s buildings and property. Since 2022 we have repaved the parking lot; replaced low-functioning, energy-inefficient windows in parsonage and rental home; remediated the church building electrical system to bring it up to code; replaced exterior pedestrian doors; and prepped/painted exterior of the rental home. Donations are being used to ‘close the gap’ in repaying the loan we received from American Baptist Churches of Connecticut.
Tithe/Offering
Pledges and offerings go to the General Operating Budget to cover the week-to-week operating costs of keeping our church doors open and programs flourishing, including but not limited to salaries, utilities, and property maintenance.
Mission
Pledges and donations designated for Missions are budgeted annually to institutions and programs the congregation chooses to support, including American Baptist Churches Mission Basics, designated missionary, ABC’s Camp Wightman, Habitat for Humanity, One Great Hour of Sharing, our Prayer Shawl Ministry, and more.
Memorial
When PBBC is designated as the beneficiary of gifts, usually upon the death of a loved one, the donated monies go to the Memorial Fund. Unless the gift is designated by the donor for a specific purpose, it is used according to guidelines in the Bylaws with approval by congregation and oversight by the Council.
